Prayer of the Church Guest
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. Colossians 4:5-6
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 5:20
Prayer to Navigate Distractions
Lord,
this world surrounds and assaults me
with all manner of distractions
my time with you is diminished
as I try to hold the world at bay
all day long
I am pulled in every direction
righteousness and morality
are called into question
vilified by media
crime is now entertainment
pornography supplants true love
politics offer a twisted scripture
all with the click of a button
I am asked to choose sides
Lord, bring me home to you
give me the wisdom to discern the truth
to set my mind and my heart and my eyes on You
give me the fortitude to look away,
move away from false teachings
and move evermore toward Your holy word.
when I am enticed to folly
remind me of my responsibilities
to care for my family and friends
to complete the work given me
and to let Your glory shine through me
nothing on this earth
is as important as my relationship with You
everything that distracts
even for an instant
sets my foot on an errant path
slows my progress to perfection
I place all my trust in You
that my efforts will not return void
and by Your grace
I shall share Your goodness and mercy with everyone
Amen
