How to Be Known by the Lord: 21st Sunday of Ordinary Time Reflection
In 3.5 months, hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers will peacefully march in Washington, DC, for the 52nd annual March for Life. The event is scheduled for Friday, January 23rd. It will be the fourth time the event will happen in a post-Roe society.
This year, the theme is “Life is a Gift”. Indeed, every life is a gift as it was made in the image and likeness of God.
“What lies at the heart of the pro-life movement—an unshakeable conviction that life is very good and worthy of protection, no matter the circumstances. Life is a Gift invites everyone to embrace life as something to be cherished and celebrated from the very beginning." The website articulates clearly. The theme does remind us that God is the author of life, and it can never be denied.
Fulton Sheen put it well when he wrote, “Life is not a push from below; it is a gift from above. It is not the result of the necessary ascent of man, but the loving descent of God. It is not the term of Progress; it is the fruit of the Incarnation." This beloved son of the church reminds us that God created life and that life is worthy of protection and dignity.
In recent years, it has been held on the Friday closest to the Roe v Wade anniversary that has scourged our nation for almost half a century. Many will recall last year being late due to the inauguration of President Donald Trump, who joined marchers later that week via video while Vice President JD Vance spoke to those gathered and had attended previous marches.
The lineup of speakers is yet to be determined. However, groups interested in attending the event can now reserve their rooms. Visit the March for Life website to do so. Individual reservations will be available on October 20th.
Plan to attend events before and after the March for Life, such as the Students for Life summit on the 24th or the Cardinal O’Connor Conference on the Georgetown campus.
Be sure to plan now to attend the 2026 March for Life in Washington, DC.
