The Candle is Still Lit
If you happen to come to Lincoln Nebraska, or just might be driving through, and need a little break somewhere where you can rest your weary bones, I sure hope you take the time to look up the "Adoration Chapel of the Pink Sisters". It is a place where miracles occur. Whether you be a weary traveler, needing to just sit in peace, surrounded by God's Holiness, or someone in need of having to get on your knees and talk to God, one on one, or just want to visit for 5 minutes, it's well worth the trip, either way.
This place is where miracles can be sought. You walk into the silence of the Sanctuary greeted by bars and pews for you to sit and meditate. You walk into this silent Sanctuary feeling the presence of God Himself. Behind the bars lies a little piece of Heaven. An altar for 24-hour Adoration to the exposed Jesus, living in the golden Tabernacle on the Altar. Sweet little nuns can be heard chanting prayers or singing hymns with their angelic voices. You can close your eyes and feel the presence of God. Of Mary and the Saints. Of the Heavens opened up, right here on this little piece of Earth. We are so blessed to have this place to go and pray. One can sit and talk to Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity. You can have conversations with Mary and entrust your petitions into Her sweet hands where She walks to that Altar and presents them Herself to Her Son.
It was built in 1973 on the request of a great Bishop. Bishop Flavin. He invited the cloistered nuns to the diocese and they moved into his former residence, which he donated to the community. The sweet Sisters wear Rose colored habits, symbolizing their devotion to the Holy Spirit, an order that was founded in the Netherlands in 1896 by Saint Arnold Janssen, a German priest. His devotion and love for the Trinity, especially the Holy Spirit, flourished around the world and we are blessed to have this Holy place among us.
The "Adoration Convent of Christ the King", is open to the public. Inviting all people to come and pray and be in the presence of the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar exposed. The Sisters are servants of God, who never leave the convent and always stay behind bars and adore the Blessed Sacrament, 24 hours a day. Residents of Lincoln have been invited to participate in Holy hours and daily Mass. The ambiance of this Church is one of love and peace. Just what one needs in a loud, bustling world. Taking time to stop in for even just 5 minutes, can help one feel the Peace that Jesus offers when He says, "come, all you who are weary and are burdened, come and rest here awhile with Me".
Yes, we have been blessed here in Lincoln Nebraska with a little piece of Heaven. We are not just a college town where football is known, but a little dot on the map where miracles are happening every day at this place, lovingly called the "Pink Sisters ".
Come and see. You will be all the more blessed for having taken the time to just stop in and tell Jesus hello.
