A Whale of a Penance

His mission to save Nineveh

God informed him to do so

But scared with no trust was Jonah

To the sea he tried to escape God’s command

But no one can run from God

Jonah chose the sea to escape to new land

But Jonah was swallowed by a whale

So in its belly he did pray

For he was afraid that this was the end of his tale

But the Lord He did hear

The words of His servant Jonah

He heard them loud and clear

To Jonah then a second chance

We should take note

That this is repentance

Jonah would preach to Nineveh common sense

About heeding to God and His Word

This is truly a wonderful story of penance

We too should take the time to listen

In prayer silently daily

His message to us will lead to Heaven

When we fail and truly sin

Because to ourselves not God

Did we chose to listen

Remember this true tail of forgiveness and humility

In of all places

A giant whale’s belly

True also is this tale a precursor for Jesus

God’s only Begotten Son

Three days crucified and then resurrected from death to save all of us

Believe and heed always our Lord

Never lose hope

Read daily and hear His Word
