Two Aspects about God’s gifts to us
We can spend a lot of time searching the depth of all God sends us from forgiveness to the love he constantly shares with each of us. To understand the why and wherefore that becomes our questioning mind is to ask him to reveal the very essence of his divine concern for the human entity of man.
When God created man his desire was to invite all of us to share an eternal life in the realm of heaven, which in its most hidden corner of the universe, is the land of forever with himself. To delve into a mystery of just what is there for our taking in spite of our weaknesses that seem to block our path to an eternity that is there, God handed us two aspects about himself that will open the mysterious puzzle of divine grace.
The first question that every sinning being seems to ponder is the gift of free will. As mentioned in other articles, if God had created mankind as puppets being led to himself by his total control, we would not need to come to him on our own tenacity. There is something to be said regarding the tenacious ability to reach for something that requires a little effort that without it we may pass by its opportunity to share with something that is normally beyond us. When God created man he knew that this creature must have an inborn quality that understood there is a real existence greater than his finite mind can comprehend. No matter what and how often attractions seem to make a ploy for our attention, somewhere in the unconscious ability there is that one aspect that seems to gnaw at our mind.
Free will is that desire that nudges at our decision to seek that one hidden element that is God and regardless how often we slip into worldly attractions that hidden call appears to raise its head above the sand of life and is there for our reason to choose it even when we are not sure why we respond to its invitation.
Once we extend our need to find what it is that calls to each of us, then we shall see through a spiritual vision a God who is real and One that is the only reality that is left in life. The gift of free will now becomes the need to seek and hold onto this quality of divine life that we were created to have and enjoy; by our own understanding of our Creator’s intention.
Now that we have the understanding of what free will is all about, the next and most important aspect is the opportunity to find God’s mercy that is even greater than what free will hands us; the ability and desire to find the greatest gift of our Creator, forgiveness from our sins.
My son, before he passed away, asked what were the most important things regarding God and our souls. My response was Love and Forgiveness. It is through free will that we find Love because it brings us closer to himself. Forgiveness is the very essence of God and when we emulate the mercy of God to those who seek it is the second criterion of what our created lives are all about.
