What History would Always be in a Fallen World, Part I: the Prefiguring Covenant
The Catholic Church Protects the Faithful from Spiritual Harm
If I ask for the seven sacraments, a priest can give me them, or at least a bishop in one.
If I ask a protestant minister for five of them, he cannot give me them, for he is not a priest.
This is like, ask for five loaves or two fish, the priest can give them.
If you ask a protestant minster for two fish, you got it, Baptism and Marriage.
But if you want five loaves, you will get stone from a hard-hearted heretical minister: he'll give you a hard heart of stone: Rome invented those five! Sorry, got none.
Moreover, the five sacraments have theological implications:
Confession and Anointing of Sick deal with forgiveness of sins, justification, the mystery of suffering, and even evening of life (unforgivable sins?)
Confirmation confirms the divine will to save you, to strengthen you with a more mature spirit.
Holy Orders tells you for sure that a priest or bishop is a man of God, who speaks for God. It also establishes governing authority to teach with authority and reliability.
Eucharist, or Communion, ditto, gives unity to Christ's Body. Where the Eucharist is, there is the True Place of Worship, the True Church.
Protestants don't have certitude to any of these theological realities.
They mess up justification and forgiveness of sins all over the place.
Calvinists don't believe in the Divine resolve to save everybody. Imagine believing God doesn't want to save you? Moreover, Protestants lack those special gifts to help them in mature walk. No wonder the evangelical theology and life is too simplistic.
Holy Orders, bs, the Protestants have only countless bible thumpers to toss them to and fro by every wave of doctrine. Each Protestant must spend every waking hour and moment studying the Bible himself to try and make sense of who is right, and they never can know for sure who really speaks for God.
Ditto, True Communion. Imagine a Protestant cowering before the myriads of competing communities of Sola-Scriptura, only hoping he finds the true religion. This is the lot of the innocent Protestant, who does not assume his election, but only hopes to be saved.
For these five great dimensions of doctrinal uncertainty, the innocent Protestant gets no relief. They have been dealt five SCORPIONS in place of five eggs!
All good Catholics, however, by those very five sacraments and the theological certitude that Rome has defined for their implications, are protected from the hardness of heart and spiritual torture. They have the balance that keeps them from the extremes of presumption (the hard hearted Pharisaical heretical ministers that assume themselves immune to the necessity of these five treasures) and exaggerated scrupulosity. The have a seal in their intellect to be protected from harm in the intellect: heresy, uncertainty, error. And they have the fullness of the protection of their wills by the sacraments. Not that sacraments guarantee staying in grace, but they give what they promise if we but receive them humbly, with yearning sincerity and worthiness. And does not the intellect lie behind the FOREHEAD, and are not the acts of our wills, the works of our HANDS?
Apocalypse 7:
After these things, I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that they should not blow upon the earth, nor upon the sea, nor on any tree. [2] And I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the sign of the living God; and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, [3] Saying: Hurt not the earth, nor the sea, nor the trees, till we sign the servants of our God in their foreheads. [4]
Apocalypse 9:
And the fifth angel sounded the trumpet, and I saw a star fall from heaven upon the earth, and there was given to him the key of the bottomless pit. [2] And he opened the bottomless pit: and the smoke of the pit arose, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke of the pit. [3] And from the smoke of the pit there came out locusts upon the earth. And power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power: [4] And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree: but only the men who have not the sign of God on their foreheads. [5] And it was given unto them that they should not kill them; but that they should torment them five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when he striketh a man.
[6] And in those days men shall seek death, and shall not find it: and they shall desire to die, and death shall fly from them. [7] And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle: and on their heads were, as it were, crowns like gold: and their faces were as the faces of men. [8] And they had hair as the hair of women; and their teeth were as lions: [9] And they had breastplates as breastplates of iron, and the noise of their wings was as the noise of chariots and many horses running to battle. [10] And they had tails like to scorpions, and there were stings in their tails; and their power was to hurt men five months
