It is in the Light of Truth where we shall find God
“The Spirit of the Lord is a lantern, searching the hidden places of our utmost being.” (cf Prv 20: 27). Those who walk in the shadow of death will fear no evil for you are at our side; (cf Ps 23: 4).
It is out of darkness where temptations seem to take hold of our weakest moments and unless the lantern of a watchman lights the path we certainly shall falter and become over-taken by the evil that is there.
What is the Light of Truth? It becomes a brilliance that is God himself and it is the essence of God that surrounds any and all of the darkest entities which wait in silence to cover our eyes of understanding. Herein lies the evil of the fallen angel who is Satan himself. Goodness cannot exist where there is darkness. That is just a shadow of lies, unfulfilled promises of sin, and a certain path into hell.
As the vision of the New Heaven and the New Earth were revealed to John, the New Jerusalem was seen. The angel said to me, “Come here, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” He took me in spirit to the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. It gleamed with the splendor of God. Its radiance was like that of a precious stone, like jasper, clear as crystal. (Rv 21 9 b - 11).
Revelation also tells us that "Nothing accursed will be found there anymore. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. Night will be no more, nor will they need light from a lamp or sun, for the Lord God shall give them light, and they shall reign forever and ever. (Rv 22: 3, 5).
There are instances or reports by saints and revelations that when a divine person, the persons of the Trinity, the Blessed Mother, and some holy person, have presented themselves, there is an unmistakable light or aurora that precedes some holy attribute as a recognizable event that is not open to most people. It is through the essence of a light that occurs when the person(s) to whom this comes about that will notify them although usually as a hidden occurrence initially.
Cloud and Light. These two images occur together in the manifestations of the Holy Spirit. In the theophanies of the Old Testament, the cloud, now obscure, now transcendence of his glory - with Moses on Mount Sinai, at the tent of meeting, and during the wandering in the desert, and with Solomon at the dedication of the Temple. In the Holy Spirit, Christ fulfills these figures. The Spirit comes upon the Virgin Mary and “overshadows” her, so that she might conceive and give birth to Jesus. On the mountain of Transfiguration, the Spirit in the “cloud came and overshadowed” Jesus, Moses, and Elijah, Peter, James and John, and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” Finally the cloud took Jesus out of the sight of the disciples on the day of his ascension and will reveal him as Son of man in glory on the day of his final coming. (CCC 697)
It isn’t so much that this Light appears to announce someone very holy is about to enter the presence of one or more persons as the fact that the Light of God is so pure and holy that his ominous brilliance can’t avoid the existence of complete perfection that is Light itself.
If anyone sees this light, they are being set aside for more than any other human, or are already in the presence of God and eternal perfection. It is here that the Truth of God’s holiness is what we all should want; and that takes one more alliance with saintliness that we all must adhere to beginning with repentance and then thanksgiving to Christ’s Passion.
