We Are Made For The Infinite!
A few years ago I wanted to do something special for Jesus during Advent, to make a sacrifice as we do during Lent. Everyday thoughts regarding our faith come to me. I want to share my thoughts with Father so I email him. I try not to email him too often knowing how busy he is. I decided not to email Father during Advent. I started writing my thoughts down instead with the plan to send them all at once to Father after Advent.
My Advent reflections for Father Eric:
Nov 30 – Father, Today you gave me two new ways to praise Jesus, “Infinite Beauty, and Inexhaustible Greatness.”
Dec 8 - Complex Jesus. Complex prophecies from the book of Isaiah on the coming of the Messiah. Confusing images for this time of year yet not confusing as explained to us by you, Father. Perfect imagery.
I was able to share this same reading regarding the prophecies of Isaiah later at Taco Hut. A young lady said hello to me. I didn’t recognized her at first but she remembered me from a few years back. She told me she just had a baby a week ago. She was alone. The infant wasn’t with her. I asked her, “What is Christmas? Is it about the birth of Jesus?” “Yes,” she answered. I told her, “It’s so appropriate that you named your baby Isaiah during Advent as we think about the birth of Jesus.” She wanted to know more about this so we took our trays and sat down together.
Dec 10 at the prison – Jesus comes to us three times; at birth; the 2nd coming; and somewhere in between. Confusing for me but it shouldn’t have been. With all your hints I finally realized that you meant right here, right now and every time Jesus comes to us in Holy Eucharist.
Dec 12, Our Lady of Guadalupe – Mary spent her whole life from the moment of her Immaculate Conception preparing for Jesus. So important for us to remember especially during Advent. Anticipating! Waiting! Seeking! Hoping! Sweet Hope! Dulce Esperanza! Thank you Father for helping me keep my faith alive and my love for Jesus aglow.
Dec 14, Gaudete Sunday – Rejoice in the Lord Always, Again I say Rejoice! How can I keep silent? I’m filled with such joy as you remind us how good God is, of all that God has given us!
Then I realized that I was not going to email this to Father when Advent was over so I quit writing.
This Advent I plan to write my Advent reflections and share them with Catholic365.com readers instead. Let’s see where God leads me.
