How do you handle stains … on your soul?
A baby melts the hearts of many. They are loved for just being. They don’t do anything to earn the love. In fact, they make a mess (spit-up and diapers). Yet, they are loved by us. We see them as beautiful, innocent, and so much more. Know that God looks at you like this. This gives us a hint of how he loves us, but only a hint.
We, like a newborn, cannot do anything for our Heavenly Father. He is the infinite, all-powerful, all-knowing Creator. The only thing we can do for God that He cannot do for us is to give Him our love. We are all loved regardless of what we can do for God. The saint, the sinner? They are loved because they exist. God looks at them both like a mother her newborn. One just returns the love.
Our daily actions are our responses to this love. Our daily actions show our love, or lack thereof, for God. How we treat others reflects how we treat the image and likeness of God. Do we give God time? We certainly should give time for those we love.
No matter how deep in sin and vice you are (or others are), God loves you like a newborn. The next time you meet someone, imagine them a newborn. Imagine the love the mother had for that person. That gives us a hint at how God sees them. We all know that newborns are loveable no matter how stinky the diaper. If we all tried to see others as a newborn child, perhaps we would love them regardless of their stinky diapers.
