Not ICE Was Here but Jesus Christ IS Here
I slept well last night, November 4, 2025, news turned off, drifting to slumber while praying. I already “knew” the election results but also that we deserve the captivity to which we are headed. Now, that may sound depressing, but we should rather give thanks for our own reconversions to Truth and embrace Divine Love that showed us the way of the Cross.
For those who remained faithful in the 20th and current century, I also render gratitude. You, following the footsteps of Jesus, may not deserve the current state of affairs, but may your eternal reward in Heaven be great for your fidelity. I look forward to honoring you in the illumination of the Holy Trinity some day.
However, we are in the world presently, and the days ahead will be increasingly difficult. So, the task at hand is to perceive “victory in defeat” and move forward in hope and trust, not worrying about the days of persecution but rejoicing that we have been called, like so many others throughout history, to give witness to the Light and, most essentially, save souls. Also, be cheerful that God has provided prophets for our day and so many wonderful signs of His Mercy and continued assistance. Let us be ever mindful that our time here is incredibly brief, a mere micro second in time, if even that, far less than the blink of an eye.
When Charlie Kirk was assassinated for proclaiming the truth, look at the hundreds of thousands of young people he reached, not through life as much as though sacrificial death. Jumping to last night’s concession speeches, how marvelous was Virginia’s Lt. Gov Winsome Earle-Sears words that echoed unshakeable Faith, but also hope and charity:
I think I learn more in a loss than I ever do in a victory.” Though Spanberger did not “pick up” on her call, Earle-Sears noted that she wished her well and remains open to volunteering to help the incoming administration. She also commented, “I don’t consider this a loss because…I am a Christian first and Republican second and that’s the way it always should be—no political party has ever given their life for me.” This most graceful woman, whose name means cheerfulness and joy, then insisted that we must pray for Abigail Spanberger, we must pray for our government.
In the spirit of that marvelously uplifting spiritual composure, there is no need here to dissect the outcomes in California, New York, New Jersey, and Virginia. Let the pundits have their day. For us Catholics, we need only focus on three actions:
One, pray without ceasing. Most vitally, pray for the conversion of souls, especially those “most in danger of hell.” Daily, recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet, even while holding specific individuals in intentions. In this month of November, our prayers for the Souls in Purgatory will vastly enrich that intercessory field. If at all possible, attend daily Mass and visit the Blessed Sacrament. The Holy Rosary is like a demon buster, and Our Blessed Virgin Mother and her most chaste spouse, St.Joseph, are every ready to launch millions of spiritual beaded missiles into dark souls to illuminate them to repentance and return to God.
Two, stay the course and persevere in the truth we know God has entrusted us to live and share in the family, but also public square. Focus on the ultimate victory and reject vitriol; delve into community needs; do good to those less fortunate; turn the other cheek when insulted or threatened. (Our real enemy, Satan and his minions, are most limited in their power and can never rob us of eternal life unless we succumb to temptation.)
While political victory can never substitute for spiritual perseverance, continue to voice that which will uplift neighbors, near and far, but always in confidence that God oversees all human action. Be not afraid. There will be material losses, perhaps loss of lives. Still, be joyful to be counted among the friends of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, when tempted by worldly powers, especially those that gloat over temporary advances, recognize them as illusions for the evil minded.
Three, be at peace and confidently surrender your will to His even when mystified. Know that He is, has always been, in the present. As Jesus told his disciples 2,000 years ago, He saw Satan fall from the sky, and has counted every saved soul in all time. God wins…He is the Victor…already! Treasure that reality in the forefront of your mind always. (Print and place it on the refrigerator door if necessary!) The ultimate kick to Satan was that evil only thought itself a winner for a brief time. So dare to be even joyful in the face of derision, insults, and confrontation. Most powerfully, do not flee the impacted states but stand and be witnesses to truth. If you live in a safe zone, consider traveling and supporting those residents in communities under the veil of godless designs. Be bold!
Jesus Christ triumphed; we can, too, and bring many souls along with us.
On to authentic victory!
