The Peace of Christ be with you
How Much Do We Really Trust In God?
Eileen Renders
Without Knowledge of how, where, or when, can we ensure that our trust in God is strong enough to take us through a peaceful “End when that time arrives?
This is a difficult question to answer, because we all believe that we trust in God. I think we all do trust in God to some degree, but we will never know how much we really trust in God until we are put to the test.
Life is indeed a testing ground for all of us. The choices we make in life with the free will God has given to all His creatures are a testament to what is most important to us, including how we choose to follow His will in surrendering our will to Him. Some may decide that, by doing this, we are giving up something precious to us and, therefore, losing something that was God-given. That would be true, but it also shows our deep love and understanding of what surrendering our will to Christ could mean to us, and for our salvation.
Speaking of our salvation, and surrendering, Jesus, by His example, showed us what love is through His ultimate pain and suffering, and death on the Cross to save us from ourselves. God sent His only Son to die by being nailed to the Cross to save us from our sinfulness. Imagine adult, ungrateful children who feel that a parent’s love and sacrifice for them are owed to them. This being true, what then do we owe to our Creator?
Finally, those who believe that in surrendering to Christ are giving up too much, do not realize that God wants our focus and surrender because without a clean heart and mind, God cannot live in us, and He cannot give to us all the graces and blessings He desires to give to us.
A peaceful death with calmness and trust will be filled with a calm serenity and acceptance through our focus on Christ and our lifelong prayers to ask God to help us increase our trust in Him. We can never outdo the love and kindness that God gives to those who love Him.
