Are we as wise as serpents, and as simple as doves?
Before we get started, and if y'all want to help me out, go here; Help with medical bills, and please check out my previous article, here; May those who love your salvation, and please, check out my latest on Locals; The owl bribed me
So, some of y'all may be aware of this, but, I have interest in foreign languages. In fact, I've written about this very thing. (How older versions of the Bible can help with French grammar).
But, as an American ethnic mutt, who can trace his heritage since well before the American revolution, but, also, with fairly recent Swedish and Scottish ancestry (19th century Paisley for the Scots, to Nova Scotia, to Illinois, only a few miles from where I was born in Iowa), I have taken an interest in Scottish Gaelic (not to be confused with Irish Gaelic, so, helpful tidbit, gay-lick is Irish, if it sounds more like gallic, it's Scots Gaelic), and, the West Germanic language of Scots.
So, why does this matter? Because the Scots language Centre used to give weekly Gospel readings for The Kirk (Church of Scotland), in Scots. Apparently still does, but, it's really hard to find.
Now, you can still find stuff archived, and The Kirk has links to the New Testament in Scots on their website (links here; Scots New Testament readings for funerals), so, what is the Scots language centre on right now?
Something gay.
This isn't the internet abuse of the word, I mean, literally, here's the article;OUTwith
I'm sorry, but, Scottish tax payers deserve something better than being forced to pay for other people's sins.
And, lest you think I'm making a mistake pointing this out, with facts, no, the Scots language centre is funded by the Scottish government; Scots Language Audit,Policy Languages.
I seem to recall Jesus warning us about being in the world, but not of it. The Scots language centre, instead of preserving a beautiful language and literary legacy, is of the world.
“I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they may also be consecrated in truth”.
(John 17:14-19).
