A love letter to my grandchildren
The Ark of the Covenant was His first home. Through the ages it has transformed into the "Tabernacle", derived from the word "taberna", which means hut or stall or winter quarters. In biblical context, it is a translation of the Hebrew word "mishkan", which means dwelling place and refers to the portable Sanctuary the Israelites used during their time in the wilderness. Nevertheless, it is Jesus's home. The sight of this Golden Palace hold our Lord Himself, just as we hold Him within us after Communion. He enters in the form of Bread, an inviting food, always tasty in any form. Toast, sandwich, cinnamon rolls, in home baked style. Our God has thought of everything!
Holy and Sacred is the Temple where God resides. Our bodies, His first Holy Temples, shows He does not wish to be hidden. But spring forth into each newness, His Love and Mercy to each who choose to receive him.
We, as His Temples, must always think of the precious treasure we are about to receive in Communion. Looking with watchful eyes as we see the finish line after so long a struggle. A destiny, with each step, as we near the Sacred Host. Seeing Him stand before us. Himself, distributing Himself. Smiling, as He sees us freely choose Him. He greets us as a dear friend or a Father or Mother to their child. How sweet He tastes! Soothing the hunger that lies waiting for relief.
Oh Jesus! It truly is You. I feel your warm arms around me after I have surrendered to you as my sustenance. I don't want you to leave me. Make my heart so, that I do not ever leave You. Oh! May my I see your glorious home on the Altar, as I will see it in Heaven someday. By God's precious mercy, grant me this request.
