“For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is stronger than men”. (1 Corinthians 1:21-25).

And, I want you think about this. From one side, you have those who demand signs, and, on the other, you have those who demand wisdom.
Well, Christ gave them both signs and wisdom. And, if you've read Acts, you'd know that Jesus's followers brought people into the early Church with both.
But, Christ crucified is a stumbling block to some people.
I know, as a Catholic, one of the strangest arguments against Catholicism, is that, somehow, having crucifixes means we don't believe in the resurrection. Know who would have disagreed? Martin Luther. Luther on Crucifixes, Images, & Sign of the Cross.
I think, for us, it's showing the importance of what Jesus did for us. By Jesus's DEATH on the cross, he conquered death.
By the way, I have an unadorned cross necklaces, a few of them, as a matter of fact, so, I don't have a problem with an unadorned cross.
I do, however, have a problem with bad arguments, as for me, I'd rather live with the foolishness of God, than the wisdom of men.
