Peace Prayer

Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. Peace Prayer

we have tried to stop war

with war

and with violence

we rattle our swords

and arm our allies

but that just plays into the devil’s hands

he is the architect of war

we pray to change the hearts of men

we pray for those who die in war

we pray for those affected by war

our prayers for peace go unanswered

but we have the ultimate warrior in Your son

Jesus Christ

the devil threw everything at Him

He did not bend

He did not break

even in doubt

He did not flee

He defeated the devil not once

but now and forever

only man invites the devil to reside in this world

Father,

send Your angels to defend us

send them to stand between us

and our addiction to war

between us and our selfish nature

send them to guide us back to You

only then will there be no need for war

and Your peace will reign forever
