The Miraculous Medal is a powerful piece of armor. It was given to us from the precious hands of our Mother Mary Herself, to Saint Catherine Laboure, in 1830. After experiencing an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at a convent in Paris, France, Catherine reported that Mary came framed in an oval and standing upon a globe. Rays of light shone from Her hands. Around the edge of the oval, these words: O Mary, conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to Thee.
Our Lady then proceeded to ask Catherine to have the image made into medallions and distributed, saying, "all who wear them will receive great graces". This is a promise from our Lady Herself. There have been millions of miraculous miracles to those who wear it faithfully. Miraculous healings and special graces are obtained to those who wear and promote devotion to the Mother of God. It's Her promise to us.
The medal's symbolism represents Mary standing on a globe. Her representation of Her role as Mother, with rays from Her hands representing graces. The inscription affirms the Immaculate Conception. The reverse side features an "M" with a cross, two Hearts representing Jesus and Mary. The 12 stars represent the Twelve Apostles and the Church. Saint John had a vision that is documented in Revelation 12: 1, that states, "and a great sign appeared in Heaven: a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet and on her head, a crown of 12 Stars", symbolizing the "Woman of Apocalypse" and "Queen of Heaven".
We are warriors for not only our God, but for Mary also. These Sacramentals have been given to us as symbols of our loyalty and faith that we have behind us, above us, below us, beside us, the protection that our Lady knew we would need. How Good and dear a Mother we have in Her!
Where it faithfully. Give it to your loved ones and really, to all in need. It is powerful. Another weapon for our times especially. Honor our Mother with your prayers of Faith, that She is our Mother and rely on Her always. For prayers laid in Her hands are purified and presented to Her Son Jesus, with only a Love that a Good Mother can have.
O Mary, conceived without sin. Pray for us, who have recourse to Thee!
