Into the Unknown we all shall enter
Taking time to Find Thanks for all we have beyond Anxiety and Fear
There certainly are reasons for most people to pull-back from the actions that may be personal to each of us or the world-wide threats of anarchy and the threat of war that confront us daily.
So when a holiday like Thanksgiving arrives the many who have dark images of no-hope confronting them welcome a day away from responsibilities and a need to protect their well-being for a day to welcome this day off. Celebrate? Give Thanks? For what they may ask!
When the Lord was taken down off the Cross, lifeless and creating a sense of fear that confronted his followers and disciples; including his Holy Mother who watched as her son was brutally tortured and put to death, there was no time or reason to give thanks; for that had no meaning, now. The same scenario might be on some of our minds; for personal reasons.
If they could have projected what did occur in three days, as Jesus assured them would happen, they surely would have celebrated by joyful expressions; but they were not able to see beyond this day of tremendous sorrow and disbelief. We must also look beyond the current possibilities of tragedies that seem to come out of nowhere in this 21st century as well.
Through the Resurrection of Christ and his spending 40 more days with them, teaching and assuring them of what he just accomplished would be theirs as well. Now that’s Thanksgiving! Does it make us disbelievers in Christ when we do not find a day of peace even when our faith delegates a reason to accept even the good and the bad in this life? It should with faith in Christ.
Put aside all that seems to confront our sanctity which should help us to hold on to our faith and step back from bad news, disgruntled relatives’ political anger, and all the doubts of anything good ever occurring in our daily walk. Take time to look through our hearts with a knowledge of God and his grace at a Thanks given to us as Holy and Eternal.
For one moment out of a busy life see the blessings each of us has even when it appears that we have reached the final day of our life; find the assurance that our resurrection also will be the treasure of eternal life, beyond these days that we do not relish as perfect. Perfection comes from grace through our faith in Christ.
Thanksgiving should last all of our days, but if not probable allow it to remain in our hearts and minds.
