As In The Time of Lot
Submitted by Thomas Stidl
The readings of the Gospel during November and the beginning of Advent reflect on the Second Coming of Jesus Christ in power and glory. Jesus has described the conditions that will foretell his coming in glory. One of the conditions that Jesus predicted is that the times will be “as in the time of Lot”. One need only to read the Jewish Testament about the conditions of Sodom and Gomorrah. It is described as complete depravity. In our modern age, it would be described as “woke”.
Let us look at our modern day sins with a biblical view. We have all heard of the “trans” movement. Men want to be women and women want to be men even to the point of mutilating their physical human bodies or taking chemicals inside their bodies to alter their God-given sex. Whatever happened to men wanting to be men and women wanting to be women? There is nothing wrong with masculinity or femininity as long as it is natural. All children “stumble” through puberty with many awkward moments. It is a time of preparation for being an adult and can actually be fun. Hormones rage inside our bodies; we begin to learn self-control which is a healthy experience for all. During puberty we also begin to learn our true role in society.
Another modern day depravity is men sleeping with men and women sleeping with women sharing physical sexual passion. Homosexuality is running rampant in our society. It is men who should be sleeping with women only after they are committed to a life-long relationship through the sacrament of matrimony. Unfortunately, about one half of those marriages end in divorce or annulment. The Catholic Church needs to flex it muscles and create better pre cana conference to lessen the frequency of divorce and annulment. Another lack of virtue is where people rejoice at the death of a political adversary. Instead, we should send our sympathy to their grieving family at minimum by praying for the living remaining members of the family and for the repose of the deceased soul. These are just a few instances of our “woke” society breaking the sixth commandment. I could probably write a book on all the other infractions of the sixth commandment. When all of these actions are combined including abortions, you now know the reasons why this is the time prophesied by Jesus, “as in the time of Lot”.
So what are we to do? We must repent and turn our lives around while there is still time left to do so. This is Advent. For those of you trapped in these sins, come to confession and relieve yourselves of this heavy burden. Attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation and receive the Holy Eucharist. Do you know of people who have been away from the sacraments? Bring them to Church and allow the Holy Spirit to inspire them to return. When we accomplish this, we are preparing our souls for its final passage to the loving embrace of the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. You will never regret that decision.
Until next time, Laus Tibi, Christe. Deo Gratias. Gloria Tibi Domini. Laus Deo. See you in Paradise. Amen.
