I enter the church at four o'clock
I squash my own Hallelujah,
fill my mind with worry— troubling details—
feel like giving up, and then…
the Gospel Reading:
blind men, healed by Jesus,
who said, “Let it be done for you
according to your faith.”
I see how their eyes were opened…
and realize that when I lingered in prayer
that same morning—despite my funk—
my eyes were opened, too,
so that now my heart can overflow
with the Glory of God My Savior,
and I can wait in living joy during Advent.
