What Will You Be leaving Behind?
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Thoughts While Praying This Prayer
By: Eileen Renders
The Prayer, with added contemplation thoughts in parentheses
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name; (The Holy Concentrated one)
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. (Jesus desires to lead us)
Give us this day our daily bread; (Not food, but the bread of Life)
and forgive us our trespasses, (Deserving forgiveness requires that we also forgive)
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, (Protect us from sin)
but deliver us from evil, Amen. (Save us from the claws of Satan)
It is important to remind ourselves each new day, our salvation is not a given.
God will be there for us, however, not without our effort to remain close to Him through prayer,
Following the Commandments and refraining from sin.
We must avoid all occasions of sin. This means people who continually sin without remorse or recourse to God.
We must treat others with love and respect, and forgive them their offenses if we wish to be forgiven.
Our salvation is available to us according to the choices we make throughout our lives.
The tools are provided by God, but we must work at developing our ability to love all, serve God, and
Be sincere in our remorse when we go to God in Reconciliation.
