“O God, my heart is fixed I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.
Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people; and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.
For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and they truth reacheth unto the clouds.
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above the earth;
That they beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand and answer me.
God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
Gilead is mine; Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;
Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my show; over Phillistia will I trumpth.
Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
Wilt not thou, O God, go forth with out hosts?
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
Through God, we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies”. (Psalm 108).
Okay, so, some observations.
I have tried to rewire my brain to be a morning person, it's just not the easiest.
But, also, I was thinking about this, kinda while reading it. v. 4 says “For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds”.
Y'all, my mom just had surgery, so please keep her in your prayers. But, it's true. God's mercy is higher than anything that we'll ever know on earth.
And, I also think, that, sometimes, you don't need a reason to praise God, you just should.
Like in v. 5 “Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth”.
God doesn't need our praise, but we did it, because he deserves it.
Having said that, there's no reason, NOT to ask God for help.
As it says in v. 12-13
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
Through God we shall do valiantly; for he it is that shall tread down our enemies”.
Okay! There's something to remember!
There's nothing wrong with asking God, there's nothing wrong with praising God, and there's nothing wrong with thanking God.
And I thank God for all the good things I have, and I ask that he heals my mother while she recovers from her surgery.
