As I approach you, my God
The Spirit of Christmas
Eileen Renders
What is the Spirit of Christmas? I would say that it is a deep joy for Christ’s
Sacrifice to be born into this world because of God’s deep love for us. Knowing that
His only Son would be sacrificed as a lamb, tortured, belittled, whipped, and nailed to a torturous, heavy Cross, humiliated and left to die. Why would God allow His only Son to be treated in such a way, to be born into this world and treated as a liar, an outcast?
The only answer is: His love for us. He wants us all to be saved so that someday we can be with Him in heaven. With that kind of love, sacrifice, and hope for us, we must rejoice!
We must live to emulate our God, our creator, and extend that love to all whom we meet, to share that love and hope with others. We give with a full heart, not to receive, but to show love by our example. God is the King of heaven, and only He can reward, for all on earth is of man, man is imperfect, and one day there will be no evidence that there once was an earth at all.
Our time on earth is a test of love, and an opportunity to learn from God, avoid temptation, and be ready for our Judgment Day, that we might gain God’s invitation to remain forever with Him in heaven. So, this holy Season, we are invited to feel the joy, love, and promise that God offers to those who truly love Him.
