When God Intervenes, How and Why Might This Occur?
Eileen Renders
When something positive occurs unexpectedly, we might hear someone say, “I was really lucky. Or maybe one’s life takes a turn that results in some extreme form of achievement that can only be compared to something that was simply out of the ordinary, we might attribute that to some sort of coincidence. How then, will we recognize God’s divine intervention? This thought stirs in us the question of how and why God might intervene in our lives.
The first example of God’s intervention is one I will share with you now. I have a dear friend who is a priest and the Administrator of a Catholic Ministry that brings men to the US for training and education into the Priesthood. This occurred as a result of this priest having had a severe infection as a young child that doctors could not heal. It soon became the only option, as his leg would need to be amputated. Doctors scheduled the surgery, and his mother went directly to church and prayed and begged God to spare his leg. She promised God that if He spared her son’s leg, he would become a priest and serve him for the rest of his life.
Upon his return to the hospital to prepare for the surgery, the infection was completely gone. He has been a dear friend for many years, and we bonded over a miracle I, too, have received from God.
We cannot relate such examples that denote luck or a coincidence. These are interventions that come only from God.
Why, we ask ourselves, would God bless some with such miracles, and others must face options that come only from abilities and realities that life can offer? Could it be that God sees longevity as an advantage for some because He knows they are destined to serve God by working to save souls? And might God take some at a young age because He loves them so that He wants to save them from a foreseen future that is filled with pain, anger, many failures, mistakes, and more? Only God knows that answer. Perhaps, however, with our faith and love of God, we are sure that His design is best for us.
