Enjoy it while it lasts
It's that time again. When we all make promises to ourselves, to better ourselves with vows to enrich our lives. How about making resolutions to enrich our souls? Those resolutions of exercising more or eating less or not procrastinating, are all excellent goals. But what about the resolutions for our souls? Telling yourself that you will pray more, or be kinder or more patient or stop gossiping or more random acts of kindness, are just as important for you as being fit. Those little habitual sins gather great amounts of moss as they roll along beside you. Making resolutions, to me, must always be followed with the words "please God, grant me the grace". God already knows we will stumble and fall, so don't beat yourself up if you do. Just get back up and keep trying. He loves it when we don't give up. Don't allow yourself to try to achieve impossible things. Start out small and then move to the big. Resoluting more patience and discernment will help in the quest for fulfilling any resolution. Remember. The word "resolution" has within it, the word "solution". Asking God to help you find the solution, will help you resolute it.
Make yourself promises that you think you can keep. On harder ones, ask for God to guide you and you will achieve what would be impossible if done without His help.
God bless this New Year with more love and readiness to do only what God wills. With peace and surrender that He knows our limitations and desires in our quest for our real home. Our mansion in the sky.
