O Savior Come, Our Race to Save
O blessed night of solemn grace,
When mighty Savior rends the sky.
To come to earth to take our place,
In mortal form, the God Most High.
Our wretched race, in weakness torn,
Bereft of hope, in bondage chained.
In humble stall, a child is born,
Our mighty God, in flesh contained.
The virgin blessed, elect of God,
Her child in time to Shepherd strong.
With holy staff, and mighty rod,
The One for whom our spirits long.
The lowly men who guard the sheep,
Respond in haste to angel’s call.

The Wisemen come and seek the star,
To find the King who sleeps in straw.
They join together from afar,
And kneel before the child in awe.
They offer now their gifts of worth,
To servant King who walks with man.
They marvel now at such a birth,
And bow in reverence to God’s plan.
Yet jealous king who seeks the child,
Will rage with this his cruel decree.
To seek the life of One so mild,
As holy family will flee.
The day will come when they return,
To live in peace for many days.
