Let's go in a little bit of a different direction on this one. Although the mountains in my home state (note: not native state, home state) of South Carolina don't qualify (it's not always easy to tell), some of the ones in the other Carolina most certainly do. I've been to Mount Mitchell many times, it is part of the Appalachian temperate rain forest (and somewhere I'd live, if I could).

“Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.” (Gensis 3:1)
“And the he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain” (Genesis 3:12).

“And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. Then Saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.
Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise said all the disciples. (Matthew 26:30-35).
