Christian Unity - Part 3

Christian Unity β Part 3
Submitted by Thomas Stidl
In Part 1, I wrote an analysis on our Catholic Faith with the fallen away Catholics. In Part 2, I analyzed the Catholic Orthodox split. In Part 3, I wish to write about our fellow Christian brothers and sisters separated into many different sects. My first thought on this topic is that all Christians should use the same bible. There are bibles in circulation with less chapters than our bible. All Christians should be using the Catholic Scriptures. These scriptures have been preserved by monks and handed down throughout the ages. For a point of references, all Christian Churches should read the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church as written by Pope Benedict XVI while he was cardinal of the Church. It is based mainly on Holy Scripture where the Church has developed its teachings especially on the Eucharist.
It is my greatest desire that all Christian sects share the same belief on the Eucharist and Mary. In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells his followers that all must eat the body and drink the blood of the Son of Man. Many of his followers left Him because of that teaching. Jesus asked his handpicked disciples if they would like to leave. The response must have cheered Jesus when they said, βto whom shall we go, You have the words of eternal life.β I realize that this will take a monumental shift for all Christian ministers not of the Catholic or Orthodox faith, but it is essential for the spiritual life of their congregation. Recently, I read an article written by Saint Ignatius of Antioch. He said that we are united in the Eucharist. He also said that is is the medicine of eternal life.
I also mentioned Mary. Some Christian sects believe that we worship Mary. That is extremely far from the truth. We pray to Mary. For example, each Christian sect asks others to join them in prayer for the healing of a loved one. Catholics also do that, but, we also ask Mary, the Mother of God, to intercede for us to Jesus for the same cause. Always remember, that Mary always points to Jesus. Her intercessory assistance with Jesus is immeasurable. From the cross, Jesus dis not just give Mary to the Catholics and Orthodox. He gave Her to all of us. Just as Jesus taught us to call His Father our Father, Jesus also taught us to call Mary our mother. This truth will come in handy when our earthy mothers return to be with the Lord in heaven.
Finally, I ask Mary to make us all united as one Church. As one of the modern hymns from my teenage years says that they will all know we are Christians by our Love. This includes unity among the brothers and sisters of all Christian denominations without arguments. Let it happen.
Until next time, Laus Tibi, Christe. Laus Deo. Deo Gratias. See you in Paradise. Amen.
