Grandma and Grandpa
All of the greatest Saints had a deep love of Humility. In the mindset that they were the greatest sinners. Always striving for the Truth. The Truth being that they had to strive for the great Love of God because of their imperfections. Their daily struggles were just like ours that we struggle with. Combating Pride in every sense of the word. Even though evident to those around them that there was something different about them in their Honor and faithfulness to God. Their trials were real. But allowing their surrender to God in all of His goodness to sustain them in their horribleness of their dryness of prayer and attention to the matters at hand, they did just that. With Humility. Therefore, recognizing the Truth. The truth of their lowliness in the worth of their being. Always striving to remain silent in persecution. Always willing to not put themselves above anyone, because no one is perfect except for God who created them.
Once we recognize Humility as a Grace, a Gift, it helps us rise above the sense of embarrassment, as we all tend to do when something or someone puts us in our place, or shows us we were wrong, so to speak. No one likes to be told they are wrong. Especially if there was effort in proving a point. The intention is thrown out the of the window and can be felt like a great waste of time or a punch in the stomach. It hurts when a sibling, or boss, or child rebelles on our performance that we tried to reveal as Wisdom of experience or knowledge in the field. Our feelings get hurt and our response is the opposite of Humility. It is anger or rebellion. True Humility makes us be able to take a step back and really look at ourselves with a clear head and heart. Accepting the disagreement with clarity of one's own self. Willing to not be the controller but the one who abides to the thought that there is something bigger going on here.
Who are we to think we are bigger than the true controller? God is the true controller. We do not know all of the answers. We never will. Even though our skills may have been thought to be perfected because of experience. The only experience lesson to be learned is that in our Humility, we will be rejected by some who are not ready to give fully their whole Heart and Soul to God. In God's waiting for "us", He teaches us what true Humility is and stands as a great example of how many times He has stepped back in His waiting for us to come around.
Humility is Truth, and the Truth sets us free.
