Loving Your Enemies
Our Story is our Testimony
Eileen Renders
What is our personal story? Was it a miracle, a strong sense of feeling and being in the presence of Christ, or an understanding and wisdom that comes over us suddenly, or an empathy and love for the suffering of others? Our relationship with Christ is our faith, our gateway to heaven. Are we on the right path? If we cannot answer at least one yes to the questions posed to us here on this page, it could be that we are not spending enough time with Jesus to strengthen our relationship with Him. God has said we must come through His Son, Jesus, to reach Him.
It is more than fair to say, Jesus never leaves us; it is we who wander away, to stray from His teachings, and this is the work of Satan. For it is true, we cannot know Christ and not love Him. There is love that is built upon believing that there must be a Superior being who created us, and yes, I believe. However, it is the love of knowing Him, how immensely He loves us, and how He sacrificed Himself for us that is much deeper, stronger, and more personal. Hearing Him speak to our souls, feeling His comfort in times of loss and stress that deepens and strengthens our love of Christ.
Moreover, it is when we grow to love Him more than any human being, when we become a blessing to Him and glorify Him through our lives, that we have a testimony to share through the very act of living.
This is when God’s loving grace and blessings provide us with the ability to serve Him in a manner that touches others we come into contact with and assures our place in heaven.
As we were taught before receiving our first Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion, we learned that God made each of us with a purpose, the same purpose. That is, “To know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world so that we could one day be happy with Him in heaven.
He is the Bridegroom, who waits for us to come to Him with a pure heart, and our commitment to Him. This does require our focus and commitment, but it is our purpose on earth.
Other commitments, responsibilities, and desires may not be of God and will not therefore bring peace, joy, or salvation.
