What are we fighting for?
There's a book we are writing in our heart that has written down all of our hurts, our sorrows, our trials. Underneath those lines of hurt lies all of our joys, are achievements, our love. Somehow those hurts take over and that's all we can seem to remember or see.
Taking a cloth and gently rubbing over those hurts, we erase them to expose the Good times, the Joys, the memories that we cherish of loved ones and our life. All of the smiles and caresses. We can erase them and then replace them, with these exposed memories of days and years of pure realness as we struggled to carry those crosses of hurt. As we sought relief, we notice that God sent us a break with His Love and strength to see us through that hurt.
Those hurts start to pile up as we realize there is no where left to turn but to His loving embrace. The evil one wants us to remain in our hurt, but God wants us to feel the salve of His Joy.
Living in the past and even the now of hurts, feels safe because we live in a solitude, alone, where we believe nothing more can hurt us more than the sorrow or hurt we now hold. But that's not true. We sink deeper and deeper into the pit of despair and hopelessness. We can't see Hope, because of our continuous writing in our book of all that has hurt us or maybe, the guilt of our bad decisions. Which the devil so generously wants to remind us of.
But what does Jesus say? He says that He takes all of our failures, all of our sorrows, all of our hurts and throws them deep into the sea. Never to recall them again. The millstone we place around our own necks, drags us down further and further, till it almost feels impossible for us to stand. But then what does Jesus also say? He says, there is nothing impossible with God.
We are all writing chapters in our own books of life. Start erasing those lines that somehow find our eyes and mind, when things don't go our way. When the struggle seems so tough and you feel like retreating to that dark area on that page. The words of Hope, Love and Mercy, will appear on that page and you will be renewed with the strength that is comparable to the scales falling from our eyes.
Look for the good in yourself and in others. That is the place you want to retreat to and the smile of the closed umbrella will let in the Sunshine of God's Holy love and warmth.
