Jesus Loves And Calls Each Of Us To Him
INCREASING OUR TRUST IN GOD
Eileen Renders
Life is miraculous! Only God gives life, and only God has the right to take it back. God has given us the way and means to live a good life, and much of that power is associated with our free will. Sadly, we do experience life as it evolves, love, children, work, hobbies, and the fundamental choice to love and serve God. Unfortunately, many thousands of God’s people choose not to love and respect God.
Sometimes this happens due to experiencing great losses in their lives, failures, and unresolved emotional issues. They live unhappy lives and take their unhappiness to a level where it becomes distrust, a desire to hurt others, and a resentment for God Himself.
Much of our misfortune comes from many uncontrollable sources: genetics, neglect as a child, loss of a parent, or rejection. Jesus suffered and died on the Cross to give us all the opportunity to witness His love for us and to be an example of how love conquers all. This is not always easy; we have been shown how Christ suffered, was humiliated, and hung on a Cross to die. Love and survival are not meant to be easy; it may be a test of our trust and courage as well. It requires endurance and determination, an ability to see that our faith and trust in God will ensure an eternity of happiness and joy.
How can we persevere in difficult times? It is through asking God for help in giving us what we need to ensure we do not fail in our attempts to overcome our difficulties, and through prayer, frequenting the sacraments, we can feel His presence in our lives. The sacraments are what keep Christ close to us and protect us from Satan’s wickedness, his desire to see us fail.
