Upcoming Book Releases Addresses Feminism and Manhood
What a time for America! For weeks, if not months, there have been two issues that have surfaced, which are worthy of discussion on the moral scale. It’s no coincidence that these headlines come during a midterm election cycle, and some states have primaries coming up in the coming months.
Those who have been keeping up with the events in the states of Virginia, Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, Florida, and so on may have heard about plans to redistrict the congressional map. This refers to attempts at gerrymandering.
In political terms, gerrymandering is the deliberate manipulation of electoral district boundaries to give one political party, incumbent, or group an unfair advantage over another.
Recently, the Supreme Court struck down the Voting Rights Act. According to Samuel Alito, “Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was designed to enforce the Constitution, not collide with it,” Alito wrote. He said lower courts had sometimes applied the law in ways that “force States to engage in the very race-based discrimination that the Constitution forbids.” Yet, since the Johnson Administration, there has been a process to elect people based on color that has held their seats for decades. With the ruling by the court, it is now putting an end to what LBJ dreamed of, African American voting democrat for years to come (Yes, he did say that, and there’s no fact-checking needed).
Meanwhile, Trump is looking to address another item on his agenda during his second term that should put Americans first. This has been an ongoing debate with backing from Americans on both sides of the political spectrum, the SAVE America Act.
These two issues bring about the ongoing debate on Election Integrity, and it goes further as to the seventh commandment: “Thou Shall Not Steal”.
America’s elections have come under scrutiny for years, yet both parties are not finding common ground based on the viewpoint of their constituents. One party wants to allow non-citizens to vote and find ways to harvest ballots when they realize the odds are not in their favor in key elections. The other is lacking the backbone and leadership to end the filibuster and make it a law, despite falling short of a 60-vote majority.
It is time for America to take a hard look at why this is becoming a debate and what must be done to keep this unethical issue from continuing.
The loud majority made their point clear. They want elections to be protected and voters to show an acceptable ID at the polls.
At the same time, it is also time to end the slothful approach to elections by doing away with mail-in ballots and only allowing absentee ballots for military, first responders, college students, and those with physical limitations. There is a reason we have Election Day every November, and it is time to return to that state of mind.
Our elections should never be stolen from those who look for opportunities to power-grab and become corrupt. Our elections should be an opportunity to elect men and women of faith, character, and integrity to address the ongoing issues that have been plaguing our country.
Pass the SAVE America Act, end the gerrymandering that has favored a certain party’s attempt to retake the House or a candidate based on race, and have American citizens, not foreigners, decide the outcome of American politics.
