Trouble comes at the Most Inappropriate Moment
How Long will it take for those who believe in Christ to really show their allegiance?
As the months seem to pass by so quickly and the attendance at Mass dwindles we can only look at the once crowded seats and see empty rows where there were warm bodies. I bring this up again because too often when groups gather together their faith and even the mention of God is no longer brought up. Have we become so enamored with the quest for money, notoriety, and power that does not belong with a Christian and the essence of holiness that is a foreign word now.
Within the moments of life that each of us has there is a void that should be filled with the terms of Church affiliation; “it is now something for other people since I am too busy with worldly events that makes me the proud neighbor others would like to emulate.”
These are words or especially thoughts that too many allow to take over when the world we are living in is on the verge of moral collapse and how much adherence to blind eyes as to what even most of the news networks are allowed by shows that put down morals every day.
Does it seem to confound many of us when the theme of a lack of faith is underlying our very Church and its members who have taken a detour around what once was the “how dare you avoid going to Holy Mass?” Believe it or not; the Commandment that says; “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the place of slavery. You shall not have other gods besides me.” (Dt 5: 6 - 7). Is it a closed mystery in this reading that these words of God are not for the future of humanity since they were addressed to the Israelites who were with Moses at the Mountain of Horeb? And what about the gods that people use more than before that are displayed in and out of homes by the people who no longer adhere to what the Church still teaches regarding faith and morals. None of these have gone out of style or have become things our ancestors believed in; not us!
We may struggle to convince these fall-away-Catholics to come back, but to no avail. The temptations of living like the rest of society has become the essence of how to get ahead and church attendance and raising our children to respect and follow the sacramental instructions have become blocks to what is out there; on the ball fields, in the dance studios, and just what is important any more in society’s every day establishment.
Where are we today, tomorrow, and into eternity?
