The unforgiven

    The word "unforgiven" only exists in movie titles. Otherwise, it is a man-made word for those who make excuses for themselves. "I've done too much bad for God to forgive me", "they will never forgive me for that". "What you did to me was unforgivable". These are just some of the phrases humans have labeled unforgiveness with the true intention of hurt or anger or pride. Notice that each insinuate the stress on the word me. The shame that goes along with acting out or saying something hurtful can feel "unforgivable". That is exactly the opposite of what God offers to each and every one of His creation. He offers forgiveness. It's easy to have a pity party. You get lots of attention. It's easy to be lazy when you think you've overwhelmed your Sunday sleeping in. But to be honest, it's a cop out. Too many people of God and really God Himself tells us there is nothing that is unforgivable, if the true intention of repentance is present. With the true sense of admitting we were wrong and want God back in our lives. He is ready and waiting at any moment that we ask. 

     There is no sin to great for God to not forgive. Lots of times it is in our sinning, or should I say, the shame of the sin, that we learn of His greatest Mercy. He stresses that He came for the sinners. He assures us that Him being the Holy Doctor that He is, that He will bind up our wounds and heal us of our ills. He does just that. He erases those thoughts of hopelessness. Shining forth His Mercy into our Souls with the great help of the Holy Spirit. True contrition does everything for us, like a Holy serum, it cleanses are guilt and helps us move forward in the direction of God. 

     Sin is an illness. Only God and the instruments of our good priests can we be cured of such a great predicament. He washes us clean so that the once thought "unforgivable" is "forgiven".

     Don't make excuses for the devil. He is the accuser. He wants us to remain in the state of thinking we're unforgivable. Stay with the good Doctor and make regular visits to the Doctor's office in the confessional. You will be set free from the once thought unforgivable and be taught how to truly forgive also. Because if He can forgive, what we really did think was unforgivable, then so can we.
