Resurrected Faith

I had to admit I love gardening, but I am not an expert at it like my father. My dad could make anything grow and produce vegetables that would feed an army. Me? I killed a cactus one time in college. 

But, I keep trying because I get a few vegetables off the plants each year and with each pepper or tomato that shows up then I am encouraged that there are more on the way. I recently purchased a couple of rose bushes to go in my front yard with my current roses. I was looking for a rose that was a different color than the ones I already had in my yard and I saw this rose bush that caught my eye. 

The photo on the outside of the pot showed a pretty blue rose. I was excited and wanted that rose. The problem was that it was the only one in the rose bushes that was blue. It had been passed over and left on the shelf because it looked sick. It looked dead. The only thing that convinced me it wasn't dead is it had just a little bit of green on the stem and two dried green leaves on it. No wonder it had been left by all the other shoppers.

But I decided I wanted it and I was going to give it a chance. I nurtured it, gave it rose food, planted it in good soil where it could get lots of sun, and kept watering it. I have to admit that I just recently bought it so i have not seen a lot of change yet. I am hopeful and confident it will happen and it will reveal its gorgeous blue roses.

It remindds me a lot of Jesus and how God sees us.

"And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit" (2 Corinthians 3:18)

God has a vision for us. He sees us in a way that we have yet to show to others. He sees us how He has designed us to be and He will continue to water and feed us. His loving hands nurture us. His eyes see what others do not see yet. But it's coming.

Your faith, perhaps, might look like my pitiful little rose bush right now. I promise you that the SON is giving you life giving light. He is giving you food for your soul through His Word. He is giving you water for your thirst through prayer. He has it all for you to bloom bright and let your faith shine. 

Our only responsibility is to receive what God is giving us. We are to receive his light through seeing Him in others that we encounter through the day and to acknowledge His blessings. We are to receive the water He gives through daily prayer. You must make prayer a regular part of your day just as if you were talking to your spouse or children. Trust Him. He will give you food through His Word. We read social media threads more than we read the Word of God. 

Ask yourself, what would happen if we took prayer seriously? Think about how your life would look on a daily basis. How your faith would strengthen. 

Get into your Bible. Open it up and hear what God is saying to you.

I promise....the day is coming when your faith will be bright and beautiful. You just have to be willing to receive what God gives to you.
