Our New Year's Resolutions
CORPUS CHRISTI
Eileen Renders
Corpus Christ will be celebrated this year on June 07, 2026
Corpus Christi means “Body of Christ” in Latin and refers to a Catholic feast that celebrates the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. This feast, also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, serves as a reminder of the Eucharist's significance in the Catholic faith, where the bread and wine become the actual Body and Blood of Christ through transubstantiation. The celebration emphasizes the importance of the Eucharist as the source and summit of Christian life.
What Blessed Carlo Acutis said about the Sacred Eucharist
Carlo Acutis is known for continually referring to the Sacred Eucharist as his “highway to heaven.” He firmly believed that the Mass was the ultimate, essential key to holiness and often urged others to understand its immense value. “A hidden treasure”. Carlo felt that many people did not understand the importance of the Mass. He stated further, “If people fully understood the significance of the blessing of God giving Himself as food, “they would go to Mass every day.”
Becoming like Jesus: Carlo stated, “The more Eucharist we receive, the more we will become like Jesus,
So that on this earth we will have a foretaste of heaven.”
The Sun and the Saints: Carlo enjoyed comparing Eucharistic Adoration to standing in the sun: “When we face the sun, we get a tan…but when we stand before Jesus in the Eucharist, we become saints.”
Carlo Acutis dedicated his short life to documenting Eucharistic miracles globally to help others grow in devotion to Jesus through his collection, still accessible today on the Blessed Carlo Acutis Association website.
Carlo is the first millennial to be beatified, and spoke of the Holy Eucharist as the central and most important part of his life. For Carlo, the Eucharist was not just a sacrament to be observed, but a living encounter with Jesus.
Carlo attended Mass daily; it was the center of his life, all else was expendable. Carlo is inspiring, and I pray that we all can take example from him in our devotion to the presence of Jesus in the Sacred Eucharist.
