Defending The Faith Part 1
Submitted by Thomas Stidl
Not many of us have had the opportunity to defend our Catholic faith in a public forum. In days to come, however, with the rise of the Islamic migration and the Marxist Communist political influence in the Democrat party, many ample opportunities will arise to defend our faith.
I have had a personal experience with defending our faith from an Islamic elder. He approached me at a Firestone Auto Service Center. His comment to me was that Jesus could not possibly be the Son of God due to the fact that He was born in time and human flesh as he read in the gospels of Matthew and Luke. I then asked him if he read the gospel of John. He told me that the gospel of John did not prove anything to him. I point bluntly told him that either he did not read the gospel of John, or he did not understand what he read. I told him that all Catholics believe that Jesus is the Word of God. He agreed with that. I then proceeded to explain the first part of Chapter one of the gospel of John. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Continuing in this vein of thought, I also told him that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. I then proceeded to explain that Jesus, the Word of God, was born in time as he suggested, but Jesus existed from before time ever was present along side the Father.
The Love that exists between the Father and the Jesus did not just start at the physical birth of Jesus. Since the Father and Jesus existed from before the beginning of time, the Love between them also existed before the beginning of time. This Love is fulfilled in the person of the Holy Spirit. He is the third person of the Holy Trinity. The Islamic elder had to agree with me, and he said that I had given him much to absorb. He then told me that he realized that his interpretation of our gospels was wrong. Whether or not he immediately wanted to leave his Islamic faith and become a Catholic is known only to God. I trust the Holy Spirit to work on his full conversion. I have many more experiences to relate to you. These are for future articles.
Until next time, Laus Tibi, Christe. Laus Deo. Deo Gratias. See you in
Paradise. Amen.
