From this Day Forward We Shall Walk with the Lord
“Love” How true is the love that I proclaim?
Words that ring out through the midst of misunderstanding until reality makes its presence known. Watch the signs of nature when one moment the grass sprouts up until weeds make their way into the earth. See the wild animals that roam the plains looking for food and are driven away by a stronger adversary. View the streets of any large city and hear the cries at night because the unrestful souls that have become jealous of success and threaten the lives of innocent citizens.
Does it appear that there is no peaceful solution to the grass growing untouched, or wild animals seeking food without a challenging enemy wanting to upset the first hunter. And what can we say for the fears that surround us when there are others whose prime goal is to create a challenge to honest living people who want only peace?
Is it possible to find understanding with nature that has no human concern for anything but themselves? Then why have the attributes of living entities that have no minds to exist allow the existence of their own rights of life?
Putting all the insidious explanations of what exists in our world that are non-human we must take a look at what the human mind can appreciate that God gave to each one without a meaning as to why; but to search for the very love that is ours alone in this world.
Questions like why is love so far out of reach from too many types of insurrectionists or terrorists that live to destroy what God has blessed when he created all mankind? Do they not know that their lives are also in the eyes of God as he waits for them to turn back and find the very essence of what love is all about. Can they ever see the words of the Psalmist in truth?
You are my king and my God, who bestows victories on Jacob. Through you we batter our foes; through your name, trample our adversaries. Not in my bow do I trust, nor does my sword bring me victory. You have brought us victory over our enemies, shamed those who hate us. In God we have boasted all the day long; your name we will praise forever. (Ps 44: 5 - 9). If only those who want to destroy what is peaceful through God’s love could hear these words of wisdom.
Our announcement of being a loving human being is one that must be looked at a second time. Does our happiness depend on the return of similar expectations when the treasures of a giving heart fall short when the presence of sin towards another becomes the true meaning of what we think love is all about? Will we ever declare pleasure at every moment we have our sins forgiven and know that this is the very love that God gives to us without demanding anything except accepting his love, period.
Jesus on the Cross did not expect us to sign our life away as he shed his Blood to expiate our death for our sins. He did this only because he loved us the moment he created us. Jesus reminded us; No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (Jn 15: 13). This is True Love! Do we have that?
