Jesus, take care of everything
That Sweet Dove has descended. It doesn't just fly around in heaven. It's here! On Earth too! Love is not stubborn or prideful, it is all giving and free. Just like the Holy Spirit. Today is a Holiday and a Holy day!
Pentecost comes from the Greek word "pentekoste", which means "50th". It's power first started after God sent this Holy Spirit to His Apostles and other followers while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the "Feast of Weeks". The Acts of the Apostles gives its account and should be read as part of our tribute this day, as we remember the Third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit. It is a long-standing Jewish harvest party, one that I wish would still be acknowledged by all Catholics and all Christians. It doesn't give celebration to just one day, but 50. The building up to this important emotional day is filled with joy and anticipation to Jesus's words He spoke before He died, "I will send my Holy Spirit, you will receive the "Holy Spirit". Then instructing each of them to go out and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is Power. He is Love. He is all-knowing. He is the advocate or helper just like Jesus proclaimed. Knowing that He was departing from this world, in His kindness and love for us, He sent and left His Holy Spirit for us so that we would never be alone.
We are Christ's witnesses to this. To testify to the great love God has for His only begotten Son, Jesus. For all of us. It is a privilege to be honored with Faith that has "Three Gods in One".
Come Holy Spirit, come. Enter our hearts and minds with everlasting Light. Let us invoke this powerful Spirit with all of our being. Cage Him in our hearts and let His beautiful song sing in our souls forever.
