Will we ever find an impetus to peace in this world?
And then there were none left to worship Christ!
Is this the headline many will see on TV or in the newspapers if there are any left? Some may not believe such a headline but the day is coming when the predictions from Revelation will come down upon the human beings still living under the auspices of the Anti-christ. Such a thought is far from the minds of most people since our Church and our Sacraments are still in vogue.
Because all Israel transgressed your law and went astray, not heeding your voice, the sworn malediction, recorded in the law of Moses, the servant of God, was poured out over us for our sins. You carried out the threats you spoke against us, by bringing upon us in Jerusalem the greatest calamity that has ever occurred under heaven. (Dn 9: 11 - 12).
“Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great. She has become a haunt for demons. She is a cage for every unclean spirit, a cage for every unclean bird, a cage for every unclean and disgusting beast. For all the nations have drunk the wine of her licentious passion. The kings of the earth had intercourse with her and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her drive for luxury.” Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “Depart from her, my people, so as not to take part in her sins and receive a share in her plagues, for her sins are piled up to the sky, and God remembers her deeds.” (Rv 18: 2 - 5).
Are these two excerpts from Scripture just a play on words? They are true and reflective of what the world is about to experience at some point. The earth and all its pleasures have become too much for the holiness of heaven and unless humanity would hear the Word of God and bow to his Passion for sins, the preceding is going to take the remaining humanity of the earth and they shall plunder into the depth of Hell.
Should we just turn our heads and yawn thinking all this is too close to our present life where there are many who still believe in God? Belief is one thing that even the demons will say they believe. But how many are reaching the essence of our Savior that forgave us, if we are willing to share his suffering and ultimate Resurrection promised for true believers?
That is the one truth that we must go to our graves holding onto and receive the grace of Christ’s Cross for becoming one with the ultimate life-giving reality of a child calling out “Abba Father.”
There is no other way to find eternal forgiveness than to say; “I believe.”
