Wait...Just A Little Bit Longer

What exactly is a War Room? Merriam-Webster defines it as a room where battles are planned and strategies are laid out. But the battles I’m talking about are spiritual—and they’re fought (and won) on our knees.
Do you ever feel like you’re fighting battles with the very people God has placed in your life? Every conversation becomes a defense of your opinions, leaving you frustrated and worn out. Don’t hang up—hang in. Often, what others need most is not our arguments, but our listening hearts.
Communication is more than words; it’s listening deeply, catching not just what’s spoken but what’s unspoken. As Philippians reminds us, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Phil 2:3–4). Real listening opens doors for kindness, understanding, and God’s love to strengthen our relationships.
The movie War Room brought this truth alive for me. In it, a wise older woman shows her prayer closet to a younger friend struggling in her marriage, saying: “THIS is where I do my fighting. I call this my War Room.” That scene changed me. I longed for a War Room of my own but had no spare closet—so I created a War Room Journal. Filled with scripture, promises, and names for prayer, it travels with me everywhere, a reminder that prayer is my greatest weapon and source of peace.
As the film reminds us: “To win the fight, you’ve got to have the right strategy and the right resources. Because victories don’t come by accident.”
So I ask you: Where is your War Room? What would happen in our homes, churches, and communities if we became a people of prayer—warriors on our knees?
