Why you should have multiple versions of the Bible
Before we get started, please read my previous article, here; A study of Hebrews IIII
June is men's mental health month. And I have written a large amount About mental health issues. (There is a reason I have so many articles on the Psalms). And, I want to start with this,
For simplicity's sake, we're going to use the ESV-CE.
"Then Jesus told them plainly, "Lazarus has died" (John 11:14).
Now, of course, the rest has to do with Jesus raising Lazarus, but, there's a place I want to focus.
"Jesus wept" (John 11:35). Now, I have most certainly written about this episode before (Jesus's humanity, The problems with funerals as "celebrations of life"), but, sometimes, it bears repeating. Jesus Christ is true man and true God (if you read my previous article, you'd know that Jesus is like us in all but sin), but, he still had human wants, needs, and emotions. And if Jesus is "true God and true man", why is it unmanly to weep?
If we're supposed to take Paul's admonition to imitate him, as he imitates Christ, "Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ" (1 Corinthians 11:1), why shouldn't we cry if we're men?
