The Dangers of the Five Solas of Protestantism

Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone): This principle emphasizes that all teachings and traditions must be aligned with Scripture, 
rejecting any other authority; asserting that the Bible is the sole authoritative source of God's revelation and the ultimate guide for faith and its practice.

Unfortunately, this tenant of Protestantism leads to "Resisting the Known Truth" in favor of one’s own interpretation, rejecting the Church
and its authority, leading to error and the multitude of denominations, with each falling into greater and greater error. Sometimes even rejecting
Traditional Christian principles such as the Trinity and ceasing to be Christian.

Sola Fide (Faith Alone): 

This tenet states that individuals are justified and saved through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not by their own works or merits. 

It highlights the belief that faith is the means by which believers receive God's grace and salvation. While Catholics agree salvation is a gift
from God, received through faith, we also believe it is expressed through works of charity (love). Without Love one's faith is dead.

Sola Gratia (Grace Alone): 

This principle emphasizes that salvation is a gift from God, granted by His grace alone, and not as a result of ANY human efforts or good works. 

It underscores the unmerited favor of God in the salvation process.  Taken together, the two tenets or “Grace thru Faith” can lead to a
“Presumption of Salvation” with resulting belief in the concept of Once Saved Always Saved (OSAS).  The related passivity, encourages no true
repentance. Lacking any cooperation with Grace, there may be no real transformation.  As a result, OSAS believers may remain obstinate in sin,
refusing the call for “good works”, and therefore rejecting the will of God in their lives.

Solus Christus (Christ Alone): 

This tenet affirms that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God the Father and humanity. Salvation is found exclusively through His life, 
death, and resurrection, rejecting any other means of salvation. 

This tenet can place limits on God’s mercy through exclusively.  According to the Catholic Church, in CCC 847:

"Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless
seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through
the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation"

This paragraph refers to “Invincible Ignorance” and underscores the mercy of God and His judgement alone. 

Further, Protestants may use this tenet to reject the Church and the sacraments established by Christ to guide us to salvation.

Soli Deo Gloria (To the Glory of God Alone): 

This principle states that all aspects of life, including salvation, should ultimately glorify God. It emphasizes God's glory is the ultimate purpose of 
creation and redemption. This Sola actually seems contrary the other solas of Grace and Faith Alone. How does one live a life of Glory to God without
the fruits of “Good Works” which are the Father’s will. 

For Catholics, we are saved by Grace though Faith which shows in our Love!
