Praising God Amidst The Chaos
As the music flows through my speaker, I am drawn to the lyrics. "Love, they will be done; I can no longer hide; I can no longer run."
My heart is stirred, and the Lord draws me in. "No longer can I resist the guiding light; it gives me the power to keep up the fight."
This past year has been challenging. As the Lord continues to work in me, revealing areas that need healing, I find it more and more difficult to resist His love, which He is pouring upon me in abundance.
It is not my strength that keeps me going, but it is the love of Jesus that provides the strength and courage to remain in the fight.
Numerous times this year, He has brought me to my knees, where He knew I needed to be. In this place, on my knees, God is the only answer, my only source of comfort and my salvation. It is here where I know in the deepest depths of my heart that there is nowhere else to turn. If I want salvation and to reach the highest union with God, there can be no other way than to surrender myself to Him completely.
The tears I have cried, the pleas I have begged the Lord, the no's I have received, and the loss I have grieved have been a crucial part of my journey. There were moments when I was hanging by a thread, but I was determined that it was always His thread I was hanging onto.
Flinging the masks aside that I hid behind, I screamed in anger and pain at the Lord, allowing myself to be vulnerable in front of Him, knowing He could handle my outbursts.
With all the battles I have fought this year, emotionally, spiritually and physically, God has stood by me faithfully.
He has shown me time and time again how much He loves me and delights in me.
I cannot hide from His love. I can try to run from it and deny it, but He will always find me. His love will always triumph.
Through the dark nights of battle, where I was using every ounce of my being to remain in the moment, Jesus would remind me of His love for me. His love would glow even more brilliantly amongst the dark night and the fierce battles. Like the stars that shine the brightest on the darkest nights, His love was the guiding love, the kiss from heaven that brought me out of the depths of desolation. Through consolations, the veil between heaven and earth can appear very thin, though I am beginning to realise that in my battles with desolation, the veil separating us from heaven is at its most transparent. It is where Jesus is waiting for us with bated breath, loving us, urging us to keep going, and, most importantly, reminding us to keep our eyes on Him. Jesus stands the closest to me during my most crucial battles and moments of deepest suffering, always ready to reach out and catch me, to steady me back onto my feet.
And often not too far away is His most beloved Mother. Her quiet yet strong, motherly presence has become significant in my life.
She is always near, crushing the heads of the serpents in my life and the attachments I struggle to let go of. She has shown me how her motherly love, care and guidance heal the wounds that I have carried around. Mary's intercession has become vital in my healing as she wraps her mantle around me; her love has soothed and comforted my heart during times of grief and suffering.
She has taught me that it is not human relationships that will fulfil the desires of my heart, but through her son, Jesus, and His merciful love. He is the one who will ultimately fulfil my heart's desires.
