Infinite Love – Part 1

During this month the Church celebrates the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. These are the two best examples of infinite love to be found anywhere along with the love from the Holy Spirit. The infinite love found in the Sacred Heart of Jesus comes from the natural relationship between the Father and Jesus. How did Jesus show us this love? He obeyed his Father's will by walking among all people serving them by curing all their illnesses, driving out demons, feeding the hungry, and preaching the Father's kingdom.
In all those actions, He gave the people of his day a taste of heaven. By curing all illnesses He taught us that there is no disease in heaven. There are also no demons or hunger in heaven. This was just another way of showing humans that He cared deeply about them and love them enough to be scourged for them, crowned with thorns for them, nailed to a cross, and crucified for them. He gave the perfect example of that 'greater love has no man but to lay down his life for those he loves'. Similar love is expressed when a mother loses her life in childbirth.
On the night before he died, he consecrated bread and wine to become the new covenant between God and humankind. Through the actions of our local priests when the bread and wine are consecrated, He once again reenacts his crucifixion and death in the unbloody sacrifice of the Mass. His resurrection is reenacted when the priest unites a small portion of the Consecrated Host with the Consecrated wine which became His Most Precious Blood. Therefore, we receive the fully risen Jesus, His body, blood, soul, and divinity.
He shows us both the Father's and His love when we receive the Eucharistic meal. He loves us enough to become physically part of our body through our digestive system. After his physical presence had been dissolved in our body, He remains with us spiritually. This is how we become what we eat. Always keep this in mind. This will help us curtail our personal sinning and make us more pleasing to Him. This is a gift from God our father and Jesus.
In part 2 of this concept of infinite love, I will deal with the love that the Blessed Mother has for her Son and human kind.
