God Gave Marital Headship to Men, part 3 of 5
Strolling around my backyard or through the neighborhood, I see mushrooms that weren’t there before.
They spring up after the rain.
Sin is often watered by the rainshowers of grief.
Anger is a common sin compounded by grief. People lash out. They snap.
“Grief is a wild animal.” (Source unknown)
The mushrooms seem to pop up in darker areas, e.g. patches of dirt under the shade.
Like the mushrooms populating the shady spots, sin penetrates the fertile darkness.
I kick the mushrooms whenever I walk by them.
Just for fun--just for kicks!
If only we could kick our sins away so easily! If only we could kick away anger so easily.
The Summer Solstice was a few days ago. Where I live, it is now peak mushroom season.
Though grief may outlast seasons, may we trust the Lord to number the days on those pesky sins that leech onto our grief like fungus.
Here’s to mushroom-kicking!
