Satan's Temptations, He Knows Our Weaknesses

How can we know when it is Satan who is whispering in our ear? Often, it sounds so innocent or even thoughtful. He might say, “You deserve to be commended” when faring at the top of the crowd when you are feeling down. Regardless, whether it is baking, fixing a car, or performing well in an intellectual study. If our weakness is pride, the Evil One knows how to attack and sound like it is coming from a place of understanding.

Our weakness may be pride, vanity, a bit of revenge, or any one of the deadly sins. Sometimes, we may think that what we are hearing from Satan is actually coming from our inner thoughts of believing we deserve a bit more recognition for our efforts. He is cunning!

What may help us tremendously is to get to the root of our personal weaknesses. In that way, whenever Satan begins to pretend to be concerned about our feelings and whisper thoughts of how we look better, speak better, do anything better than someone else, he is simply wanting to strip us of all humility because it is Godlike.

Understanding our weaknesses enables us to be on guard to check our weaknesses and sincerely pray for God to help us to remove them. As we become better at detecting Satan’s evil attempts to destroy our souls in the presence of God, we will quickly recognize who it is that is actually, that is desiring to destroy our goodness from within. The goodness that we are working toward establishing to help us come closer in our relationship with God.

It has been said that Satan truly runs from those who are saying the rosary. Because we were born imperfect and with sin, God created the sacrament of Baptism. Our redemption is not unconditional. We must frequent the sacraments, such as Reconciliation, Mass, Holy Communion, and follow the Commandments; that is what can help us get to heaven with Christ for all eternity. As they say, “Nothing worthwhile comes easily.”

Whenever you hear that cunning voice in your ear, prompting you to seek praise, validate your intelligence, or seek revenge, or attack you where you are weak, know who it is. I usually say, “Be gone, Satan! I love and adore and belong to Jesus Christ. “Then say a couple of prayers. See you in Church.
