Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

ACT OF REPARATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Adorable Heart of Jesus, consumed with love for men and thirsting for their salvation, Heart so loving yet so little loved, deign to accept this act of reparation that we eagerly offer to make amends to Thee for the outrages, the irreverences and profanations which Thou dost receive in the adorable Sacrament of the Altar. Pardon, O most Sacred Heart, the forgetfulness and ingratitude of men, the abandonment and indifference with which they repay Thy immense love! Forgive us all, forgive all poor sinners! Remember not our innumerable faults, and from the open wound of Thy Sacred Side let floods of grace and mercy descend upon us. Guard and protect us, hide us in this divine wound till that happy moment comes, when in our heavenly country we repeat with the angels throughout eternity: “Glory, love, gratitude, and unceasing praise be to the most loving Heart of our Saviour!”

PRAYERS TO THE SACRED HEART

I hail Thee, O Sacred Heart of Jesus, living and life-giving fountain of eternal life, infinite treasure of divinity, glowing furnace of divine love; Thou art my place of rest and my most sure refuge. My dear Saviour, enkindle my heart with that burning love wherewith Thine own is on fire; pour into my heart the manifold graces, of which Thy Heart is the source; let Thy will be mine, and let mine be for ever obedient to Thine. Amen.

O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore Thee, I love Thee, and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer Thee this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to Thy will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in Thee and for Thee. Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, Thy blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death. Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee my will, that Thou mayest strengthen it; my understanding, that Thou mayest enlighten it; my memory, that Thou mayest occupy it; and all my desires and affections, that Thou mayest purify them. I offer Thee also all my projects, that they may be guided by Thee; my toils and labors, that they may be blessed by Thee; and all my interior and exterior occupations, that they may be sanctified by Thee. Thy Divine Heart, O Jesus, shall possess all that I have and all that I am. In the love which Thou dost bear me, I place all my hope and all my confidence. O Jesus, hear my prayer and grant that I may never be separated from Thee. Amen.

Heart of Jesus, legitimate Lord of hearts, deign to subject to Thy obedience all our hearts. Possess them all, even those which are rebellious to Thy law; induce them by the attractions of Thy grace to submit themselves to Thy dominion. Never suffer them to withdraw an obedience so just, so necessary, and so glorious for them. Render them docile to Thy will. Be Thou, O most holy and perfect of all hearts, the model of ours. Make them become like to Thine,—humble, pure, meek, and patient. Restrain the passions which agitate them; purify them from terrestrial desires, which defile them; settle their inconstancy; soften their hardness; enrich their poverty; elevate their desires to heavenly pursuits; inflame them with the fire of Thy divine love; in a word, render them such as will make them agreeable to Thee, that they may honour, love, and imitate Thee, and thereby possess Thee eternally. Amen.

Make all hearts that are capable of loving Thee, O sweetest Heart, feel Thy sovereign power; mine own and those of my relatives and friends, of all who have asked my prayers or who pray for me, of all to whom I have any obligation. Assist them, I beseech Thee, according to their needs. O Heart full of charity, soften hard hearts and relieve the souls in purgatory; be the assured refuge of those who are in their agony, and the consolation of all the needy and afflicted. Lastly, O Heart of love, be all to me in all things, but particularly at the hour of my death be the sure refuge of my affrighted soul, and receive it at that hour into Thy merciful bosom. Amen.

PRAYER REQUEST TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Divine Jesus, Who hast said: “Ask, and you shall receive; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you;” behold me prostrate at Thy feet, animated with a lively faith and confidence in these promises, dictated by Thy Sacred Heart and pronounced by Thy adorable lips. I come to ask [here mention the request]. To whom can I address myself if not to Thee, Whose Heart is an inexhaustible source of all graces and merits? Where should I seek for graces if not in the treasure-house which contains all the riches of Thy clemency and bounty? Where must I knock if it be not at the door through which God communicates Himself to us and through which we go to God? To Thee, then, O Heart of Jesus, I have recourse; in Thee I find consolation when afflicted, protection when persecuted, strength when overwhelmed with trials, and light in the darkness of doubt. Relying on Thy goodness and power, O my Jesus, I hope to obtain the favor I request. I am not worthy of any special graces, because I have so often offended Thee. But, then, Thou art the God of mercy, and Thou wilt not refuse a contrite heart. I love Thee truly now above all things, and my one desire is to please Thee, and to serve Thee faithfully all the days of my life. Cast upon me a look of mercy, I conjure Thee, and Thy compassionate Heart will find in my miseries and weakness a pressing motive for granting my petition. O Sacred Heart, whatever may be Thy decision with regard to my request, I will never cease to adore, love, praise, and serve Thee. Deign, my Jesus, to accept this, my act of perfect submission to the decrees of Thy adorable Heart, which I sincerely desire may be fulfilled in and by me, and all Thy creatures, forever and ever. Amen.

PRAYERS TO THE AGONIZING HEART OF JESUS

O Jesus, my Saviour, I adore and love Thee in the mystery of Thine Agony in the Garden of Olives, and I compassionate the sufferings of Thine Agonizing Heart. I entreat Thee, by this Holy Agony, and by all the Dolors of Thy mortal life, to grant the grace of a good death to all the dying, especially to those for whom I now make intercession. For this end, let me offer Thee my most humble homage.

Agonizing Heart of Jesus, Sacred Heart of my God, my King, and my Saviour;—I adore Thee and I love Thee, have pity on the sick and dying.

Agonizing Heart of Jesus, most holy, most chaste, most innocent of all hearts;—I adore Thee and I love Thee, have pity on the souls in purgatory.

Agonizing Heart of Jesus, most humble, most submissive, most obedient of all hearts;—I adore Thee and I love Thee, have pity on all of sinners.

Agonizing Heart of Jesus, most afflicted, most injured, most patient of all hearts;—I adore Thee and I love Thee, have pity on the poor and persecuted.

Agonizing Heart of Jesus, Beloved of the Father, Living Temple of the Holy Ghost, delight of the Immaculate Heart of Mary;—I adore Thee and I love Thee, have pity on the struggling.

Agonizing Heart of Jesus, most loving, most worthy of love, most patient of all hearts;—I adore Thee and I love Thee, have pity on the tormented.

ACT OF REPARATION

O Jesus, who lovest souls so ardently, and who hast endured the most cruel agony to save them, behold us prostrate at Thy Feet to compassionate Thy griefs, and to make reparation to Thine Heart which is outraged daily by the sins of men! O afflicted Heart of our good Master, who can understand the terrors, the anguish, the mortal sadness which oppressed Thee in the Garden of Olives? O sweet Saviour of our souls, Thou saidst, “My soul is sorrowful even unto death,” and then all our iniquities passed before Thine eyes. O! Jesus, pardon us! Forget our ingratitude and remember only Thine infinite mercy. Let some drops of the Divine Blood which watered the Garden of Olives, fall upon us, and upon all sinners. Let this Adorable Blood flow freely, we entreat Thee, down upon the souls of those who are now in the terrible agony of death, and about to appear at Thy dread Tribunal. O! Jesus, pity them. From the Cross Thou didst pardon the good thief; pardon the dying! Let them also hear from Thy Sacred Lips the consoling assurance, “This day thou shalt be with me in Paradise.”
