Reminiscing July 4th and our 250th year of Freedom

Although this will publish several days later the views and excitement of the celebrations from NYC and Washington D.C.  will resonate in the hearts of millions everywhere that watched or were there to watch our spectacular show for July 4th.

The fly-overs of military aircraft and who could remain in awe of all the ships that were on the waterways of New York City.  Not only did the United States Navy have many ships to view, there were ships from many counties that also came to help us celebrate our birthday.   With all of the negative response from our own congressional members it showed that a majority of nations support our phenomenon of peaceful adherence to our assimilation of freedom for our citizens. 

Honoring the years that our military members were willing to fight for and many who gave their lives supporting the very tenets of what our constitution promotes is paramount to what freedom entails.  Freedom is not a seven letter term that looks good on paper, it is what God stipulated when he created humanity and we have been in eternal thanksgiving for his trust in us, in spite of our weaknesses.  

God created man a rational being, conferring on him the dignity of a person who can initiate and control his own actions.  “God willed that man should be ‘left in the hand of his own counsel.’ so that he might of his own accord seek his Creator and freely attain his full and blessed perfection by cleaving to him.”  (CCC 1730).

By his glorious Cross Christ has won salvation for all men.  He redeemed them from the sin that held them in bondage.  “For freedom Christ has set us free.”  In him we have communion with the “truth that makes us free.”  The Holy Spirit has been given to us and, as the Apostle teaches, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”  Already we glory in the “liberty of the children of God.”  (CCC 1741).  

Freedom is the power to act or not to act, and so to perform deliberate acts of one’s own.  Freedom attains perfection in its acts when directed toward God, the sovereign Good.  (CCC 1744).   

Those who want to remove freedom from the will of the people are going to find that their free will was in God’s plan when he created man.  But since we all have free will, how we use it will be the determining factor that either saves our soul or refuses to give obedience to Almighty God and puts their own soul in hell, by their own choice.

Freedom is a gift; how we use it is our free will determination.
