Our Lady of Mount Carmel Novena - day 2

     St Simon Stock was a 13th century English priest and the prior-general of the Carmelite Order. Legend suggests he earned the surname " stock ", ( meaning " tree trunk") because he lived as a hermit inside a hollow oak tree for 20 years. He is best known for the 1251 apparition in which the Virgin Mary is said to have presented him with the "Brown Scapular ", promising protection to all those who wear it.

     Let us pray day 2 of the Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, constructed by the sweet hearts of John-Paul and Annie, from their site at  praymorenovenas.com. 

     By their suggestion, let us pray for all Carmelites today. 

     In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. 

      God, you call all people to holiness. In a special way, however, you call all those in religious life to a particular kind of holiness. Thank you for the witness of these holy men and women! Our Lady of Mount Carmel, please watch over your Carmelite sons and daughters. Please bless their charism of contemplation. Help them grow deeper in knowledge of life and God. Open their minds to better understand God's word and creation. Guide them to use this knowledge to share with others and change the world. 

     I pray, that more people choose the religious life, especially over your patronage of the Carmelites. I also pray that more laity consider vocations to third orders. The laity can also grow in their disciplines and help work of those in religious orders! 

     At this time, I also asked that you bring before your Son my other intentions. (Here state your intentions)
